Jack Dovidio, director of the Division of University
Studies, shepherded the new core curriculum through the approval and design
stages. "Ten years experience with the previous program created a kind of
restlessness that motivated the need for some intellectual change," he said.
"When you listened and talked to students there were many who still liked the
program, but it became clear that we could do better." The new curriculum
creates greater flexibility for students and for faculty.
