"I have the most awesome staff . . . they work very hard," said manager Judy
Schenk of the 17 students who work for her throughout the day at the Barge
Canal Coffee Co. in downtown Hamilton. It seems that resourceful Colgate students pursue every possible opportunity to earn a bit of additional income -- from working for campus departments and downtown businesses, to baby-, house-, or dog-sitting, even to opening a late-night eatery. "They are a lot of fun to work with . . . and you can get caught up in their college way of life for a while," admitted mail clerk Holli Hadlock as she reflected on the students she's worked with over the years. "And then, you really miss them when they are gone." |
